Why is a Raven Like a Writing Desk?

"Why is a raven like a writing desk?"

A favorite question that is unanswerable.

Similarly, I am asked questions I have either been asked multiple times, or questions I cannot answer. Don't get me wrong, I love to answer questions! The more I talk about going, the more real this feels! However, I think it's time I compile a list of as many questions I can remember, and give my answers to the best of my knowledge (or the reason why I don't know, haha).

Q: Where will you be staying?

A: Disney owns four housing complexes, known as Chatham Square, Vista Way, Patterson Court, and The Commons. I won't be able to request where I want to live at (Chatham) until about 20 days from check-in. I'm currently 56 days away from flying out, so woot!

Q: Are they paying you?/How much are they paying you?

A: Yes, Disney pays their college program participants! I'm not sure if pay varies between roles (this is my first time participating and so I've only been assigned one role, haha), but I do know that I'll be paid $10 an hour.

Q: So, your housing is free/included?

A: No, it's not. From what I'm aware, rent can cost between about $106 - $134, depending on how many people stay in one apartment. I'm part of a group of six amazing girls (fingers crossed we really do get to room together!), so our rent should be less. Basically, the more people there are, the cheaper rent should be. Rent payment is taken directly out of our paychecks by Disney.

Q: Who will you be playing?/Do you know who you're playing yet? A: Nope, I don't know yet! There's this thing all Disney College Program (DCP) participants go through called Casting. I believe I find out where my home park will be located (probably won't know a definite assignment because there's various characters I can play). Even if I did know though, I think there's a rule that I can't actually tell you...? I'll get back to you guys on that one.

Q: What happens when you get there? Do you just start working or something?

A: More or less. From what I understand, we go from check-in, to casting, to Disney Traditions (what I believe is an orientation of sorts?), to training and THEN work begins!

Q: Will you finally get to find out if [insert Disney rumor] is true?

A: Well, I can already tell you if it's true or not. That's what comes with having a Disney fanatic for a friend, haha!

Q: Can you get me free passes??? A: WELL. . . Is that what our friendship means? Haha, kidding, but seriously. There are discounts available to my FAMILY members (which I don't know the exact details for and I won't know until I enter training and I gain entrance to the Hub). For friends, I don't believe there's anything I can do for you... Sorry.

Q: How will you get around?

A: Disney has a bus system just for DCP participants, which is included. So I won't have to pay for bus fare or anything!

Well, that's about all I can remember being asked so far. The reason why so many answers are unsure is because I haven't done much research into them. I still want to be pleasantly surprised, so I've only really looked up the answers to the items I've been stressed out about. If your question isn't up there, feel free to shoot me a message! Like I said, I'm totally willing to answer questions, haha.

Until later, TTFN! (ta ta for now!)
